The Old man is still in the South. He and his co-worker are waiting for permits, revised drawings and some materials.
My projects seem to be delayed also, not because of permits or drawings ( have plenty of drawings), but because of materials. Grandchild # 3 and I went to one big box store and found one material on clearance. No price tag, and asked. Not finding the item in there system, the clerk asked for a price. Well, it wasn't in the price range I was willing to pay, and instead of making the sale (and getting it off the shelves forever) we walked away. Going to Big Box store #2, we found (again on clearance) items in our budget and a lot less than the first store. So, one material.. tile is purchased and home.
Now going back to find lumber. How hard is it to keep in stock plain grade pine 1x6x6 ?? or 1x6x4? Two pieces and warped !! Guess we will wait.
So, on to project #2. Need 4 wooden legs to make a table (have the table top). They had 2 legs of this design and 2 legs of that design. Thinking out of the box... since this is only temporary, how about PVC pipe legs? Finding a very helpful young man, found the pipes, a connector (of sorts) and flanges... each leg would run about $23. Well, nix that. Finally found some hardware that just needed 2x4s to make shelves. That will work.. except that now they don't fit the table top. Off to the shed and found lumber of our own.. and now I have a table thingie that will work.. just cover it up with a tablecloth and no one will see it.
Guess I will have to wait for The Old Man for project # 1.
