Where shall we begin?
~~The first church dinner was Sunday. Almost Dorothy purchased 10 less pounds of meat than she was told to purchase, and still had 10 pounds left over. She tried to institute a few new procedures, but the workers had already started their old ways. She also encountered several other hiccups that were irritating. I received several complements on the decorations and thank yous for the work done. Then, raked over the coals by an insane grandmother for telling her grand kids to stop running. The insane grandmother said "Everyone is telling them to stop. My kids have always run all over this church." Okay, I could have been nicer about telling them to stop running, BUT if everyone is telling them to stop why are they still running? Now....let's look at the people they were running past: One 87 year old lady with a cane, one old man with two bad knees, one old man that has had back surgery twice, one old lady that has had two brain surgeries and is scheduling number three, and one old lady that is so fragile if you breath to hard around her she might just get blown over. The man with the two bad knees (not related) overheard this ranting and told Almost Dorothy "That was just so uncalled for" while shaking his head.
Yes, the physical area where the dinners are held is a gym, although once tables, chairs, food and people are added this space is now a dinning area.
A few minutes later, these same children plus their others were running around in other parts of the church. I didn't say a word. The Pastor did catch them and said something to them. Children being anywhere in the church unsupervised is totally against our "Safe Sanctuary Policy."
Personally: a) why have a Policy if you refuse to enforce it? b) these children have no respect for church property nor it's members.
Questions: Does Insane Granny scream at the Life Guard at the pool when he tells the children not to run? Does Granny scream at the teachers at school?
~~Next: Almost Dorothy's husband is suppose to take over the chair of finance. Yet, the old chairman refuses to give up some responsibilities and duties. Now, Old Chair has a very sick wife, and this is the reason he didn't want the office. Almost Dorothy's husband purchased a very expensive software program 4 (four) years ago. The old chair mentioned on Sunday that certain important parts of the program had Never been used.
Also, Almost Dorothy and her husband have talked to and at the Pastor and other chairmen about other issues (sermons not up to par or lacking). (Let's look at others during a sermon: One lady in front of me does her grocery list, one practices her shorthand skills, some almost fall asleep, some play with their kids or the kids hand held toys)
So... Almost Dorothy and her husband have sent in their request to be added to the inactive list.
~~I have talked with a family member about changing churches. That family member mentioned (on their own, no help from me) the issue of growing up in a church where respect of church, church property and members versus this church. Also issues of being the last to know events for young adults and children, or being totally left out of events.
~~ The Uncle and Aunt are doing well. The Cousin, aka Uncle Gary, is coming into Indy late tonight and will be in that speck of a town tomorrow. The other old one asked if I was ready to bury her. No.. really, she asked!
And how would you have answered?????
