Explain This To me

Getting things ready for the wedding, I decided to get the dental work done now instead of later.

Scheduled oral surgery for Friday morning : check
Did the recheck with the surgeon : check
Surgeon's gal checked to make sure the dentist had the partial: check
Made a follow up appointment with the dentist for any adjustment to the partial: check
Was told to pick up the partial the week of (or day before) surgery: Check
Went to pick up the partial on Wednesday : check ~~~~~~~~~~well???

Was told the partial had been thrown out during spring cleaning!!!!!!

How does one throw out an item worth $800 + ?? And by the way... insurance did NOT cover this $800+ item!!!!!!!!

So... new one is being made and I will be picking it up later today and not being charged.
Well, let's hope!
